The crash rate nobody reported

The Play Console showed a crash rate of 0.59 per cent. Not a single report about it, no bad review, nothing. People who open an app that crashes immediately rarely write a review. They uninstall it.

That is exactly why the number in the console matters more than the feeling that nobody is complaining. The cause sat in a state only certain devices reach. After the fix it is back at zero.

What this says about small apps

At a few thousand installs, every piece of feedback is a lucky find. The store's own metrics are the only reliable source, and you have to go and look at them yourself.
