Why the Pure apps are called Pure
Flashlight Pure, QR Scanner Pure and Fake Chat Video follow the same rule. The word in the name is not marketing, it is a commitment.
The rule
- No ads, in any version
- No tracking, no analytics libraries, no account
- As few permissions as possible, and each one has to follow from the function
- Extra features as a one time purchase rather than a subscription
What that costs in practice
Without an ad network there is no income from reach. Without analytics there is no usage data to base decisions on. You only see what the store shows by itself: installs, crashes, ratings.
That is uncomfortable. It is also the only version where you can honestly say that a flashlight learns nothing about its user.
Why no subscription
A subscription is rent. Rent makes sense when there are running costs, for servers for example. These apps compute on the device and need no server. So there is no reason for a running payment.
