The country editor: why we opened Anpfiff1 up

July 2026, in the middle of v2.1.0:

Ever since version 2.0.0 the requests arrived in the same shape: please add country X. Portugal, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Poland. Every country we build by hand costs a league structure, team lists, a cup format, a currency and a round of balancing. And then the next request arrives.

So we are not building a seventh country. We are building the editor.

What the editor does

A country is a set of decisions, not a set of data: how many divisions, how many clubs in each, how many go up and down, whether there is a play-off, how the national cup runs. All of that is now yours to set. Alongside it come 78 country templates, each with city lists and derby pairings, so a country you build yourself does not read like a spreadsheet.

Brazil as proof

So the editor is not just theory, Brazil has been added as a full country: its own currency, three divisions, a national cup and a South American continental competition with its own entrants. Built with exactly the tools the player gets.

What else went into July

  • Pitch-side advertising, with several partners depending on stadium size
  • A fan shop, either run in house with production runs and prices, or contracted out
  • Hiring staff: physiotherapist, fitness coach, assistant coach, goalkeeping coach, scout
  • The assistant coach picks the side at the press of a button, to your brief, and the higher his level the more reliable his choice
  • Awards: Manager of the Year and Player of the Year, per country, with a ceremony at the end of the season and a history in the statistics
  • A friendly fixture and a season calendar

The number that describes the month

168 commits in July. In June there were 12.

Almost every feature and almost every fix goes back to a suggestion or a report from the community. That is not a courtesy line; it says so in the patch notes too.
