2.1.8: the season end counts only once
14 September 2026: version 2.1.8 is an emergency fix for 2.1.7. Five of the bugs fixed here came from your reports, thank you.
Four of them share a root cause. A game rule was tied to a screen: see the screen twice and the rule ran twice. Never see it and the rule never ran.
The season end ran more than once
Loading the end-of-season save ran the whole season end a second time. Players aged by two years instead of one, every contract lost two years, and twice as many players retired at the computer clubs.
Each of these steps now records in the save that it is done for this season. The screen may appear as often as it likes: it no longer changes anything.
On slow devices the world did not age at all
The retirements ran in a single block across all 821 computer clubs, and the screen gave up after 30 seconds. On a slow device no computer player ever retired, and squads got older season after season. The season end now runs in small steps and belongs to the season rather than to a screen.
The European champion starts in its own competition again
Champion, cup winner and EU Champions Cup winner, and still starting in the EU Conference Cup. The winners only reached the archive the rule reads from if you actually saw the screen after the final. The game now archives them itself, the title holder is back at the front of its country's list, and in Argentina the rule applies at all now.
Also fixed
- Yellow cards are wiped after the quarter-final again, even if you simulate through.
- Ticking every country in the country selection produced eight countries without a single club. Affected saves heal themselves on loading.
- With fifteen active countries the country tabs stretched the view wider than the screen. They now wrap.
- The country list in targeted transfers abroad scrolls again, even with your finger on a button.
- The youth academy upgrade window is readable again.
What changes for careers in progress
A save in which the computer clubs' season end used to fail now gets a normally ageing world. Until the backlog is worked off, there will be more retirements than lately.
A European place lost in an earlier season cannot be restored retroactively. From the next title on, the rule applies.
